Nagarjuna Government College (A), the Department of Economics is one of the departments that has been around the longest. At the very beginning of the College, the Department of Economics was established as a separate department. The Department is now providing undergraduate and graduate degree programs. Telugu and English are both used as the medium of teaching for courses at the university level. Remedial classes for students at the university level had been initiated by the department. Aside from that, we, the members of the faculty, are pleased to inform you that during the academic year 2023-24, the Department of Economics offered a Bachelor of Arts (Special) degree that included a combination of Economics. At the moment, there are four members of the faculty working at the Department. Because of this, the Department is fortunate to have a teaching faculty that is comprised of extremely skilled and competent individuals. All of the professors have extensive experience in both teaching and research at a variety of professional levels. There is a tremendous amount of diversity in the student body, with students hailing from a variety of locations, including Telangana, India, and other countries. Keeping in mind the norms established by the UGC and the parent institution, the department has implemented CBCS at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. Within the department, continual evaluation is practiced by means of the two internals that are conducted for both undergraduate and graduate level courses. Assignments, project activities, and presentations at seminars are all things that are done on a regular basis in the department.

This course aims to provide a scheme of study for undergraduates, which will provide a strong foundation in economic concepts, theories and modes. Students will develop the ability to analyze economic behaviour of individuals, households, businesses, and government in making economic decisions.The course aims to enhance students’ understanding of broader aspects of the economy and its impact on various stakeholders. By studying economics, students will gain insights to apply economic principles to real world situations and problems.The study of economics encourages students toadopt a global perspective. They will examine economic events from different regions of the world, developing an understanding of the interrelation and interdependence of nations and cultures.The program seeks to develop analytical skills in studentswhichwillenablethestudentstoarticulate, evaluate and interpret economic data. They will be able to apply these analytical skills to understand complex issues and present their ideas effectively and engage in constructive dialogue. Presentation and class discussion provide opportunity for the students to articulate their ideas and engage in economic debates.Overall, study of economics course provides a well- rounded education that equips students for diverse careerpathsinacademia,government,publicpolicy, international relations, journalism, and more.
